In traditional toy manufacturing, facial features of dolls are mostly made through separate printing and subsequent manual assembly. This process involves tedious working procedures, high plate-making costs and long production cycles. Moreover, it only supports mass standardized production and cannot satisfy current demands for personalized and small-batch customization.

To optimize production processes, upgrade product craftsmanship and boost market competitiveness, a well-known Spanish toy brand conducted extensive research on new printing technologies and equipment, and finally chose UV printing technology.

Compared with traditional printing processes, UV printers require no pre-production plate making, eliminating the troubles of time-consuming plate creation and high minimum order quantities. They can flexibly handle both small-batch customization and mass production. Meanwhile, UV printers feature a wide range of applications, covering advertising production, cosmetic packaging, building decoration, label printing, toy manufacturing and other industries. High-precision printing is available on hard toy parts such as toy cars and toy guns, as well as soft components including finely detailed doll heads.

The printing clarity, color texture and reproduction effect fully met their product upgrading requirements. During communication, our technical team thoroughly investigated the client’s core production requirements. The workpieces to be processed are silicone doll heads. Made of soft material with uneven surfaces on the face, they impose strict requirements on printing precision, stability and adhesion. Defects such as ink splashing, blurred patterns and uneven colors are likely to occur. To solve this key challenge, we customized an exclusive solution for the client.

The equipment is equipped with Toshiba CF3R high-drop printheads, which adapt well to height differences on doll heads. It realizes high-precision three-dimensional printing, fundamentally avoiding ink splashing, misalignment and image blurring, and ensuring smooth lines and clear outlines of facial features.

In terms of color and texture, the machine adopts an 8-color printing system: six colors, white ink and varnish, to achieve differentiated texture effects via layered printing. For doll eyes, superimposed varnish printing creates a translucent, shiny three-dimensional effect to improve product delicacy. For other facial areas where the client needs a matte finish, we precisely adjust UV lamp channels. While retaining instant-dry performance and high production efficiency, the surface gloss is reduced to form uniform and delicate matte texture, fully meeting the client’s appearance standards.

After confirming the solution, the client highly recognized our professional technology and immediately sent silicone doll head samples from Spain to our company. Upon receiving the samples, we completed registration, filing and prioritized them in the sampling schedule to push forward sample testing. Since this project is vital to the client’s product iteration, the client attached great importance to it and sent a team to visit our factory for on-site inspection and project coordination.

We accompanied the client’s team to visit the production workshop, R&D center and sampling laboratory. We elaborated on performance advantages, applicable scenarios and technical highlights of our full-range equipment. We introduced multiple sizes of UV flatbed printers including 2613, 2513, 1612, 7151 and 6042 models to fit toys of different sizes. We also displayed UV cylindrical printers for regular and irregular cylindrical toy parts, as well as UV flatbed conveyor printers and high-speed UV printing equipment. The complete equipment portfolio fully demonstrated our diversified production capacity and mature technical system.

After the factory tour, the client’s team entered the sampling laboratory and witnessed the whole sampling test. Practical verification showed that silicone doll heads can be printed directly without complicated pre-treatment, greatly simplifying production procedures. We customized special fixtures for silicone doll heads to completely avoid workpiece shifting and printing misalignment.

Our technicians refined artwork and accurately adjusted software parameters. Combined with the three-dimensional height of products, we matched optimal printing waveforms and curve parameters. After repeated tests and calibration, printing outputs with accurate colors, delicate lines and ideal texture were achieved.

During the test, the client’s team actively consulted about equipment operation and parameter tuning skills. Our technicians provided full hands-on training, covering artwork import, detail optimization, parameter setting, waveform debugging and finished printing. The client quickly mastered core operations and could independently produce high-quality samples after practice. They spoke highly of the easy operation and outstanding printing results.

After several rounds of sampling, parameter adjustment and solution optimization, the client was fully satisfied with the printing precision, color texture, three-dimensional effect and production efficiency on silicone doll heads. They formally placed an order for Model 1612 UV printer matching their production line.

Fitted with customized Toshiba high-drop printheads and six-color neutral ink system, the machine supports intelligent visual positioning to realize automatic alignment. It further improves printing precision and yield for irregular and three-dimensional toys, perfectly adapting to both personalized customization and mass production.

At present, the equipment has completed installation and commissioning and been officially put into stable operation on the client’s production line in Spain. It completely replaces the client’s traditional cumbersome coloring process of separate printing followed by assembly. Production procedures are greatly simplified, lowering costs on labor, plate making and material loss. The consistency and delicacy of printed toy facial features are significantly improved.
